Part 1) The type of disease that has you wondering about what you eat. The Doctors say no, no relations at all, however they cannot say what is the cause of this disease. It seems to be genetic but the proof is not conclusive. When I first noticed this disease I thought it was hemorrhoids and did not pay too much attention. The bleeding was minor at first, so nothing to worry about. Oh boy, was I ever wrong. The bleeding just didn’t want to stop; it just got worse and worse. I stopped working and stayed at home to rest and see if that helped but to no avail the bleeding got worse even. It was now at the point of only blood coming from my anus. I finally went to the Hospital Emergency and was taken under observation immediately. The first thing they checked out was my stomach by inserting a tube through my throat directly into the stomach. The stomach proved to be just fine. The Doctor then proceeded to verify my anus for hemorrhoids and found that also to be ok. The next step was to check out the intestines and for that they gave me a liquid to drink so that I would empty out the digestive path. By giving me this drink (barium mixture) the drop in body fluid became too rapid and I went into some kind of epileptic shock. The Nursing staff had a ruff time with understanding what this was and I was put into a Isolation chamber for contagious deceases. They started giving me a lot of Apple juice to replenish my liquid. In my state of shock I was looking like a person that had gone into epileptic shock and my lips and fingernails turned blue. My time in isolation was not over by a long shot, next I was transferred into a single isolation room on the contagious deceases ward and kept under close observation. From here Gastro Intestinal tests and treatment was administered with no success. As the blood loss was rather large, injections of Iron was given. During this period my physical strength was diminishing and also my weight. Days turned into weeks and there was no progress to speak of , Doctors was starting to talk about operation and told me to think about it. One day.. I did not wake up, the body had started to shut down, I was on my way out of here. The body was getting ready to die. After finally being brought back to conscience I was informed that I would have an operation that same afternoon, simple as that. The physical state of my body was rather weak so there was no time to waste. I was put under for the operation about 16:30 hrs and woke up in the recovery room about 19:30 so it took a while this thing they did with me. The first thing I noticed was the cool feeling like there was no heat in the room. The nurse packed me up with warm blankets and asked me, How do you feel…My reply was simply…this is not a good day to go dancing and fell right back asleep. This operation more than likely saved my life and thanks to that, you can now read about it. After my operation, the recovery came rather quick for a while.Lots of new stuff to get used to. Bear in mind I now had a severed Large Intestine and a Small Intestine coming out on the side of my belly. This is were they put the Plastic Bag (Ileastomy). The first few days was rather difficult as I had to learn how to handle the bag and keep it clean and also the changing of it. I spent a few days more at the Hospital under Nursing Care and learned a lot from those Beautiful People that we call Nurses. I got released from the Hospital after a good seven weeks in there and spent another couple of months at home gaining more strength before returning to work. I will write more about this part of my disease at a later point and also go into the next Stage of it. I hope this will be of help to somebody that are going through a similar situation. Part 2 to come….. If I can be of any help to anybody then feel free to post a comment. PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM NOT A DOCTOR, I JUST HAVE THE DISEASE!
